For the past 12 years in August, our theatre has been a part of the Indy Fringe Festival. As the festival grows, so does our involvement and the involvement of our players.
While our theatre is ‘dark’ for ComedySportz matches and our Late Night events during Fringe – we help host local and national performers from August 17 – 27th this year – you can still see many of our improv players in some amazing productions of their own along Mass Ave and here in our space.
Kait Burch and Callie Burk are performing the The Beast, The Lady, and the Sanguine Man. Produced by NoExit Performance at Theatre on the Square, audiences will venture back to the Roaring Twenties in this epic, live-action, silent film! Follow Alma, heroine, as she leaves her childhood home for Pineborrough, where blood boils hot, morality gets questioned, and love is sought in the shadows of night. Can Alma resist temptation in a city of monsters?
Chad Woodward performs with a plethora of Indy talent (Nathalie Cruz, Betsy Norton, Jenni White, Vickie Phipps, and Devan Mathias) in The Gab. Produced by Zach & Zach at Theatre on the Square, America’s favorite afternoon chat show is in trouble. Fame, egos, fights and faux pas abound. It’s gonna be a long day… From the team that brought you The Great Bike Race and Holy Ficus.
Todd Kenworthy and Kelsey VanVoorst are BACK AGAIN with Ben Rockey and new adventures of Haul & Oatz: Time Traveling Detectives 2, except this time, they take their keen private eyes to the Old West. Bandits, thieves, saloon tabs, old-timey underwear, and dysentery are only a few of the foes they must overcome in order to save the day and protect the historical timeline. Produced by Defiance Comedy and playing at Phoenix Theatre, Todd plays Oats, and local favorite, Ryan Ruckman, is Haul.
Kelsey VanVoorst is also performing with Frankie Bolda and Daryl Hollonquest Jr in EclecticPond Theatre Company’s Drankspeare: To Beer or Not to Beer. Hamlet in under an hour…and under the influence. If you were able to see their Romeo and Juliet last season, you’ll know that Drankspeare is not to be missed and lucky you, it’s being performed right here at our CSz Indy Theatre! This event is for 17 and older.
Mark Cashwell brings us a creation all his own in Tonight, Tonight: An Improvised Late-Night Talk Show. Produced by YellowDog Productions, Tonight, Tonight is an improvised late-night talk show incorporating elements from your favorite talk shows such as an opening monologue, all the way to having a dance break with the audience. Performed at Phoenix Theatre Underground, it’s a highly interactive show and will include improvised interviews! Anything can happen, and will, with Tonight, Tonight!
And finally, we’ve got our own show! Join the improvisers from CSz Indianapolis as they perform a tribute to Dirty Dancing. Pervy Prancing: A Dirty Dancing Improv Spectacular brings to life a classic 80s film. The songs! The dancing! The carrying of a watermelon! It’s all here with the help of your suggestions. Nobody puts Baby in a _______________. This event is for ages 17 and older and will also be performed right here on our stage.
